Springer has launched a new open access journal, the International Journal of Implant Dentistry. Sponsored by the German Association of Dental Implantology and the Japanese Socieities of Oral Implantology, and published by SpringerOpen, the journal is dedicated to the exchange and discussion of new research in the field of implant dentistry.
About one-third of all genes in the mammalian genome are essential for life. An international, multi-institutional research collaboration identified, for the first time, mutant traits in the mouse for 52 human disease genes, which significantly contributes to the understanding of the genetic bases for some human diseases, including cardiovascular defects, spina bifida, and metabolic disorders, among many others. The study was published this week in Nature.
Johns Hopkins researchers recently received a $195,000 Rapid Response Research grant from the National Science Foundation to, using machine learning, identify which COVID-19 patients are at risk of adverse cardiac events such as heart failure, sustained abnormal heartbeats, heart attacks, cardiogenic shock and death.
A novel online HIV prevention program with spicy soap operas and interactive games - like a rising thermometer of sexual risk - reduced sexually transmitted infections in gay young men by 40 percent, reports a Northwestern Medicine study.
