An interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers at Vanderbilt University headed by Stevenson Professor of Chemistry David Wright has designed a new kind of rapid diagnostic test for malaria that has received a $100,000 Grand Challenges Explorations grant which is designed to support innovative global health and development research projects.
"Africa's economy expanded by 4.7 percent in 2010 and is expected to maintain similar growth over the next two years," according to the U.N.'s World Economic Situation and Prospects 2011 report, which was released Tuesday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Deutsche Presse-Agentur/M&C reports.
Using animal tissue samples-store-bought pork loin and beef liver-researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have demonstrated the possibility of real-time video-rate data transmission through tissue for in-body ultrasonic communications with implanted medical devices.
Healthcare Administrative Partners (HAP), an industry-leading medical billing company, announced today that it has signed a contract to provide medical billing services to Lenox Hill Radiology. Lenox Hill Radiology is a radiologist-owned and operated imaging center located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Radiology billing is one of HAP's primary healthcare specialties; the company serves a broad range of hospital-based practices and imaging centers.
