A new three year research project aimed at improving the effectiveness of radiotherapy treatment for men affected by prostate cancer is taking place at Queen's.
"The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched a consortium on Wednesday that would allow the public and private sector to share intellectual property to promote the development of new drugs to treat diseases such as malaria," Reuters reports.
Foundation Medicine today announced new data from a pilot study demonstrating that its fully informative genomic profile for hematologic malignancies, FoundationOne Heme, identified both novel and previously reported clinically actionable genomic alterations in multiple myeloma cases. These data were presented in an oral presentation titled Pilot Study To Evaluate The Prevalence Of Actionable Oncogenic Mutations In Patients With Relapsed Refractory Multiple Myeloma (abstract number 755) by Alexander Lesokhin, M.D., medical oncologist, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, at the 55th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
A study, by Dr Julian Trollor and Dr Tracy Anderson from the School of Psychiatry at UNSW, found that elderly participants (those aged 65 and above) reported a lower prevalence of psychiatric and anxiety disorders and had lower levels of psychological distress than middle-aged participants.
People with heart disease can receive either the high-dose or standard-dose flu vaccines for protection from heart or lung-related deaths or hospitalizations, according to late breaking research presented today at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2020.
