Study results confirm safety and efficacy of INSIGHTEC's Exablate Neuro system for the treatment of essential tremor

INSIGHTEC, the leader in MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) therapy, has announced that the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) has published the results of a pivotal study of their Exablate Neuro system for the non-invasive treatment of essential tremor (ET). The study met its primary endpoint with patients treated with Exablate Neuro demonstrating a clinically significant 47% improvement in a composite tremor score at three months as compared to no change in the sham cohort.

Sleeping too much or too little increases risk of dying from heart disease

Too much or too little sleep is linked with an increased risk of certain types of cardiovascular disease. Women and the elderly are particularly at risk.Sleeping less than four hours or more than eight hours a night increases the risk of dying from some types of coronary heart disease, such as heart attacks and unstable angina pectoris, according to a study by Norwegian and Taiwanese researchers.

Study: Low glycemic diet does not improve insulin sensitivity or cardiovascular risk factors

Nutrition experts are continually debating the nutritional value of carbohydrate-containing foods and whether some are healthier than others. High carbohydrate foods are classified by how much they increase blood sugar; known as glycemic index. In new findings led by researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, researchers looked at glycemic index' effect on cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes and found that low glycemic diets did not improve insulin sensitivity or cardiovascular risk factors.
