The infrastructure required to support and sustain compliance education and training programs is often decentralized and under-resourced which can hamper program effectiveness within academic health centers, according to Mindy Steinberg, MPH, and Elaine R. Rubin, Ph.D., of the Association of Academic Health Centers, in this month's issue of Academic Medicine.
Inc. magazine ranked Signature Genomic Laboratories no. 1012 on its third annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The company, which performs microarray-based diagnostic genetic testing of chromosome abnormalities in individuals with unexplained mental retardation and/or birth defects, experienced three-year sales growth of 302.9%, more than twice that of the Inc. 5000 industry median and over 12 times the industry benchmark. Signature was also ranked 70th of companies in the healthcare sector.
Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) in collaboration with researchers from Lahey Clinic Northshore, Peabody, Mass., believe that androgen deficiency might be the underlying cause for a variety of common clinical conditions, including diabetes, erectile dysfunction, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease (CVD). These findings appear in the September/October issue of the Journal of Andrology.
AMRI announced today that it has filed two new patent infringement lawsuits in U.S. District Court in New Jersey against Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Ltd., Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Inc. and Sandoz, Inc. ("the defendants") for infringement of AMRI's U.S. Patent Number 7,390,906. The recently issued patent relates to the manufacturing process for the active ingredient in sanofi-aventis's Allegra and AllegraD drug products.
A new white paper, developed by the Vatican-based Pontifical Academy for Life, describes the broad-based, expert-led effort to develop recommendations for improving global palliative care.
