New research reveals that rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients do not receive fewer cancer screening tests than the general population. Results of the study, funded in part by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and published in Arthritis & Rheumatism, a journal of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), found that RA and non-RA patients receive routine screening for breast, cervical, and colon cancer at similar rates.
Presdient Barack Obama spoke to the group Organizing for Action and said the role of these volunteers in terms of putting the new health care plan in place and advancing other second-term initiatives is critical - especially as the August congressional recess approaches.
Finding major new clues to the origins of autism, a Yale-led team of researchers has pinpointed which cell types and regions of the developing human brain are affected by gene mutations linked to autism. They report their findings in the Nov. 21 issue of the journal Cell.
A new report released today entitled Prostate Cancer: Living, not Just Surviving, which details the findings from a large pan-European survey of 765 prostate cancer patients, 335 caregivers and 400 healthcare professionals, reveals that only 14 per cent of healthcare professionals feel that they have sufficient resources to address quality of life issues, such as fatigue, pain and intimacy problems.
