Anesiva, Inc. today announced that on November 5, 2009, it received a letter from The NASDAQ Stock Market LLC stating that the Nasdaq Hearing Panel has granted Anesiva's request for continued listing on The NASDAQ Global Market subject to the condition that Anesiva shall have completed on or before December 31, 2009, the proposed merger (the "Merger") contemplated by the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated August 4, 2009, among Anesiva, Arca Acquisition Corporation ("Arca"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anesiva, Arcion Therapeutics, Inc. ("Arcion") and, with respect to Articles V and IX only of the agreement, each of the Arcion stockholders listed on Schedule I thereto.
The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and the Association for Frontotemporal Dementias (AFTD) announced today the recipients of their third annual research award, Frontotemporal Dementia Drug Discovery Program. The goal of the program is to accelerate the development of novel therapies for frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The program will provide a total of $1,200,000 in research grants over four years.
Contradicting long-standing conventional wisdom, results of a Johns Hopkins-led analysis of data previously gathered on more than 3,000 family caregivers suggests that those who assist a chronically ill or disabled family member enjoy an 18 percent survival advantage compared to statistically matched non-caregivers.
