Older women who experience at least one full-blown panic attack may have an increased risk of having a heart attack or stroke and an increased risk of death in the next five years, according to a report in the October issue of Archives of General Psychiatry, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
A single treatment of 8 gray (Gy-a unit of measure of absorbed radiation dose) of radiation appears to be as effective in palliating painful bone metastases as the current U.S. standard treatment course of 30 Gy delivered in 10 daily treatments, according to a new study in the June 1 issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
New research from the United Kingdom suggests several factors that increased the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection involved higher alcohol use, Asian/Asian British ethnicity, and obesity. In addition, moderate but not vigorous exercise of more than 10 hours a week was associated with lower susceptibility to infection.
Fewer than 1 in 10 adult Canadians is in ideal cardiovascular health, according to the new CANHEART health index developed to measure heart health published in CMAJ (Canadian Medical Association Journal).
Though conventional wisdom and partisan positions suggest the program is fiscally "out of whack," experts say there are multiple ways to try to make it more sound.
