Scientists at Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine have reached a major milestone in the effort to wipe out some of the most lethal diseases on the planet. As leaders of two large structural genomics centers, they've experimentally determined 500 three-dimensional protein structures from a number of bacterial and protozoan pathogens, which could potentially lead to new drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to combat deadly infectious diseases.
The study is based on the results obtained in the Digital Mammography DREAM Challenge, an international competition led by IBM where researchers from the Instituto de Física Corpuscular have participated along with scientists from the UPV's Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications.
Most Tennessee infants exposed to hepatitis C at birth are not later tested to see if they acquired the virus, according to a study by researchers at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and the Vanderbilt Center for Child Health Policy.
Oxford Gene Technology, The Molecular Genetics Company, has today announced a significant expansion of its existing catalogue of Cytocell Aquarius Haematology probes for fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) — underlining the company's position as the one-stop-shop for high-quality FISH probes.
