Doctors and other healthcare professionals should use the arts and humanities to develop their empathic skills and improve mental healthcare practice, according to a new book.Mental Health, Psychiatry and the Arts, edited by Dr Victoria Tischler in the Division of Psychiatry at The University of Nottingham, argues that visual art, poetry writing, novels and music can be used in the education of medical and nursing students and other mental health professionals to improve their understanding of the patient experience.
"The World Health Organization [WHO] should review its approval of a drug used to prevent life-threatening bleeding in women in childbirth because there is not enough evidence that it is effective," according to a study published Monday in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, Reuters reports.
It is commonly assumed that you can "work up an appetite" with a vigorous workout. Turns out that theory may not be completely accurate - at least immediately following exercise.
Shionogi Limited, the London-based European subsidiary of Shionogi & Co., Ltd announced today that on 26th March 2013 the European Medicines Agency accepted its Marketing Authorisation Application submission for ospemifene for the treatment of vulvar and vaginal atrophy in post-menopausal women.
