New research findings published this week on a standardized Ginkgo biloba extract are very limited and the public should focus on the well-documented cognitive and cardiovascular benefits of ginkgo, said the American Botanical Council (ABC), an independent nonprofit research and education organization.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today authorized use of the Flourish Pediatric Esophageal Atresia Anastomosis, a first-of-its-kind medical device to treat infants up to one year old for a birth defect that causes a gap in their esophagus, called esophageal atresia.
Enterprise Community Investment, Inc. (Enterprise), a national leader in affordable housing and community development, and National Community Fund I, LLC, an affiliate of United Fund Advisors, LLC, recently closed on a $22.3 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transaction. This will finance the new construction of the Harrison Circle Building at the Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) in Bronx, N.Y.
Here's a dose of bad news for physicians eager for a long-term fix for Medicare's Sustainable Growth Rate -; and it's being delivered by one of their own. Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), a physician, predicts Congress will settle for "another Band-Aid in regards to the SGR problem." That would come after the latest short-term patch expires in late December.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is proud to announce today the recipients of its 2011 Community Health Leaders Award, honoring 10 individuals who have overcome daunting odds to improve the health and quality of life for disadvantaged or underserved communities across the country.
