A new drug was approved for advanced skin cancer this Wednesday by U.S. regulators, offering the first new treatment for melanoma in 13 years.
What makes some women more susceptible to heart disease than others? To help answer that question, researchers at Western University's Robarts Research Institute have identified that an estrogen receptor, previously shown to regulate blood pressure in women, also plays an important role in regulating low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels.
A horse was put down at Tewantin, near Noosa and it was confirmed that it had Hendra virus infection. At present quarantine measures are being taken.
There exists a possibility that COVID-19 can also affect the reproductive function in the body, which can lead to infertility in infected patients. A study published in the American Journal of Reproductive Immunology explored the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection on reproductive functions and fertility.
International aid groups are "scrambling to engage members of Congress and the American public in a dialogue about the need to secure U.S. foreign assistance funding" as the "next deadline for the U.S. Congress to pass a full fiscal year 2011 budget or another short-term continuing resolution is fast approaching" and discussions on the FY12 budget need to begin, the Devex blog "Obama's Foreign Aid Reform" reports.
