An international team based at Geneva University Hospitals and at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, has succeeded in defining a "signature" composed of a small number of inflammatory markers that can be monitored in order to understand how a promising anti-Ebola virus vaccine stimulates the immune system.
Medical Air Technology (MAT) recently completed a project at the prestigious Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), increasing laboratory capacity to accommodate a new machine for counting and profiling cells. Founded in 1898, LSTM is the oldest School in Tropical Medicine in the world, and recognised globally for its groundbreaking research into infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases.
AML is not a single disease. It is a group of leukemias that develop in the bone marrow from progenitors of specialized blood cells, the so-called myeloid cells. Rapidly growing and dividing, these aberrant cells crowd the bone marrow and bloodstream, which can be fatal within weeks or months if the disease is left untreated.
