A new study in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, funded by medical research charity Arthritis Research UK, may help improve GPs' understanding of chronic musculoskeletal pain amongst different ethnic groups and develop better strategies for self-management as a result
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today released an examination of the federal government's system to produce medications, vaccines, equipment and supplies needed for a health emergency, known as medical countermeasures. The Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasure Enterprise Review: Transforming the Enterprise to Meet Long Range National Needs reviews the process and makes recommendations for a better approach.
Further evidence has been found by Universities of Leicester and Bristol researchers to suggest statins could "significantly reduce" the occurrence of blood clotting in certain parts of the body.
Each year between 100,000-180,000 Americans die as the result of pulmonary embolism, a complication from blood clots in the lungs. The Vascular Disease Foundation urges Americans, especially women, to learn about the risks of venous blood clots to help prevent these deaths.
New research, to be published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, finds that men who developed persistent sexual side effects while on finasteride (Propecia), a drug commonly used for male pattern hair loss, have a high prevalence of depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts.
