Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., said today that he would not release a draft of health reform bill taking shape in the Senate Finance Committee, which he chairs, on Wednesday, as previously planned, Dow Jones Newswires reports.
The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) commended the Senate for passing a bill extending from Sept. 30 to Dec. 31, 2009 the deadline for meeting pharmacy accreditation requirements to continue offering Medicare Part B Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS).
A pioneering European research project aims to lead to new diagnostic tests to assess patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and identify those most at risk for developing severe inflammation and liver scarring.
Drinking too much destroys the liver, as is well known. A new study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association on December 18, 2019, shows that excessive alcohol consumption also damages the heart muscle. This is seen by a rise in the level of certain biological molecules in the blood.
