Speaking today in Barcelona at the Fifth Peptide Engineering Meeting, Compugen Ltd. project manager Dr. Yossef Kliger provided an overview of Compugen's DAC Blockers Platform and reviewed disease model data for selected product candidates.
Nearly half of the world's population is at risk of infection by the dengue virus, yet there is no specific treatment for the disease. Now a therapy to protect people from the virus could finally be a step closer, thanks to a team at MIT.
Experimental animal studies have shown that H. pylori shares several antigenic regions in common with acid secreting cells in gastric mucosa. Antibodies triggered by H. pylori destroy acid secreting cells due to this antigenic mimicry.
Current human exposure to bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical used in many polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins, is of "some concern" for effects on development of the prostate gland and brain and for behavioral effects in fetuses, infants and children, according to a final report released today by the National Toxicology Program (NTP).
Doctors now have a much-improved tool to assess individual kidney function, thanks to the work of an international team led by University of Saskatchewan medical imaging specialists Drs. Carl and Michal Wesolowski.
