The first comprehensive set of hospital-level surgical care standards for older adults has been released and published on the Annals of Surgery website in advance of print publication.
The ability to control whether certain stem cells ultimately become bone cells holds great promise for regenerative medicine and potential therapies aimed at treating metabolic bone diseases. Now, UCLA School of Dentistry professor and leading cancer scientist Dr. Cun-Yu Wang and his research team have made a significant breakthrough in that direction. The scientists have discovered two key epigenetic regulating genes that govern the cell-fate determination of human bone marrow stem cells.
Osiris Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mesoblast Limited for the sale of Osiris' culture-expanded mesenchymal stem cell business, including Prochymal, in a transaction worth up to $100 million in initial consideration and milestone payments.
Concerns raised by scientists in the U.S. last month about Bisphenol A, a controversial chemical found in most plastic baby bottles has led to calls from groups in Britain for all baby bottles to be clearly labelled.
