A new study has found that when parents get tested for breast cancer genes, many of them share their results with their children, even with those who are very young. Published early online in CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, the study also revealed that most parents think that their children are not distressed when they learn about the test results.
In a study that is the only one of its kind worldwide, researchers from the MedUni Vienna, the Vienna Technical University and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute have investigated the distribution of trace elements in the tissue of bone tumours.
Shire plc, the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, announces that its subsidiaries Shire Development Inc. and Shire Pharmaceutical Development Inc. have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against Cadila Healthcare Limited, doing business as Zydus Cadila and Zydus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. for the infringement of U.S. Patent No. 6,773,720.
Mathematicians at the University of Liverpool have found that it is possible to gain full control of sound waves which could lead to improved medical scans, for technology such as ultra sound machines
Chimpanzees and humans share a common ancestor, and even today 99 percent of the two species' DNA is identical. But since the paths of man and chimp diverged 5 million years ago, that one percent of genetic difference appears to have changed humans in an unexpected way: It could have made people more prone to cancer.
