In the new study, Alnylam and Mount Sinai scientists discovered a novel class of virus-produced small non-coding RNAs, called small viral RNAs (svRNAs), which play a critical role in the replication of influenza A virus.
One-third of children with a microdeletion of chromosome 22 will later develop a psychotic illness such as schizophrenia. But how do we know which of these children might be affected? Today, various studies have contributed to the understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms that are associated with the development of psychotic illnesses.
More than 30 abstracts presented at the 60th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego, December 1-4, featured research highlighting the ability of Bio-Rad's Droplet Digital PCR to provide high sensitivity and accuracy in quantifying minimal residual disease - those remaining cancer cells after therapy that are associated with relapse - in blood diseases such as leukemia.
The National Cancer Coalition (NCC) is expanding its efforts to fight women's cancers in the developing world.
