WuXi NextCODE, a precision medicine company using the genome to improve health worldwide, and the Children's Hospital of Fudan University, based in Shanghai and serving 2.3 million patients nationwide per year, today announced the signing of a landmark agreement for advancing precision medicine in China.
"A month ahead of the 2010 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) review summit at the United Nations, some women's groups are voicing concern that member states' commitment to women's issues is insufficient and slowing progress towards gender parity worldwide," Inter Press Service reports in an article that examines progress towards reaching women-centered MDGs.
MD Ranger, Inc., a leading provider of compensation benchmarks for physician service contracts, today announced that Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, Calif., and Sonoma Valley District Hospital in Sonoma, Calif., are the newest subscribers to MD Ranger's proprietary compensation database, which will provide decision support and strengthen compliance documentation for physician contracting.
An international team of scientists has discovered extensive similarities between a strain of bacteria commonly associated with plants and one increasingly linked to opportunistic infections in hospital patients. The findings suggest caution in the use of the plant-associated strain for a range of biotech applications. The genetic analysis was conducted in part at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory, and will be published in the July 2009 issue of Nature Reviews Microbiology, now available online.
Pharmacogenomics research and development innovator PharmaGenoma, Inc. and its subsidiary HairDX, LLC, today unveiled the next generation of its genetic screening test for male pattern baldness. The HairDX test is available immediately thru qualified physicians' offices.
