One North Carolina Democrat who never voted for the health law finds he still has a tough fight from Republicans. In the meantime, new polls show support for the health law at a new low, but some still see the law as Obama's biggest achievement.
The Gottlieb Allergy Count, reported by Joseph Leija, MD, will officially begin Monday, March 18, weeks earlier than the usual April 1 start date. For the past week, Dr.Leija has been monitoring the air daily in preparation.
After a transplant surgery, anti-rejection drugs for the organ recipient are a must, but with prolonged use can have serious side effects, including infections, heart disease and cancer.
A new study led by the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre and the University of Montreal, along with the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has found that transfusions using fresh red blood cells-cells that have spent seven days or less in storage-are no more beneficial than older red blood cells in reducing the risk of organ failure or death in critically ill children.
The Associated Press reports on efforts to provide culturally appropriate care for Native Americans, by focusing on the simultaneous work of medical doctors such as Joachim Chino, a Navajo-Acoma, and traditional healers such as Navajo medicine man David Begay.
