Patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exhibit a disordered breathing-swallowing pattern that may account for their higher risk of aspiration pneumonia, according to new research from the University of Pittsburgh.
In areas of Washington, D.C. and Maryland the prevalence of diabetes is as high as 15 percent in adults. This, coupled with long waitlists at endocrinologist offices, helped to fuel the idea that primary care physicians with advanced training in diabetes could effectively care for complex patients living with diabetes.
The College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Oncology today issued a joint guideline aimed at improving the accuracy of immunohistochemistry testing for the expression status of estrogen and progesterone receptors in breast cancer. The two groups conducted a systematic review of medical research literature in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario to develop the recommendations.
According to scientists the secret of eternal youth is not to be found in a bottle of pills or some kind of potion; it is they say as simple as working out at the gym on a regular basis.
