ViroPharma Incorporated today announced that it has signed an agreement with Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation for rights to develop, file regulatory dossiers, and commercialize Cinryze(TM) (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) for hereditary angioedema (HAE) as well as for potential new indications in certain European and rest of world (ROW) territories.
Cancer Research UK-funded scientists have taken a further step to identifying men at a greater risk of prostate cancer with the discovery of seven new variants in the human genome that increase the chances of developing the disease. The research is published in Nature Genetics.
Harvard scientists have solved the long-standing mystery of how some insects form the germ cells - the cellular precursors to the eggs and sperm necessary for sexual reproduction - and the answer is shedding new light on the evolutionary origins of a gene that had long been thought to be critical to the process.
