In this post on USAID's "IMPACTblog," Erin McKee, USAID mission director for the Central Asian Republics, recounts a discussion roundtable with people "on the front lines" in the battle against HIV/AIDS in Kazakhstan.
A pioneering study has found Australian parents who turned to medicinal cannabis to treat children with epilepsy overwhelmingly (75 percent) considered the extracts as "effective". Contrary to parental expectations, extracts generally contained low doses of cannabidiol - commonly considered to be a key therapeutic element and that has been successfully used in recent clinical trials to treat epilepsy.
Researchers have used a Greenlandic cohort to identify a genetic mutation whose effect on the risk of diabetes is "several times larger" than any previously discovered.
Rice University scientists have discovered a new way to look inside living cells and see the insoluble fibrillar deposits associated with Parkinson's disease.
4SC AG, a discovery and development company of targeted small molecule drugs for autoimmune diseases and cancer, today announced that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended resminostat for designation as orphan medicinal product for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer.
