Virginia Tech is participating in a new, landmark $30 million national effort sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the U.S. Department of Defense to combat concussions among college athletes and active service military personnel.
Paragon Bioservices, Inc., a leader in the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals, has announced today that it has received the CMO Leadership Awards for 2015. Paragon is a leading contract manufacturing organization (CRO-CMO) whose customer base includes global pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, NGOs and government agencies—including the Department of Defense, the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Women who exercise for 150 minutes a week or more may see a reduced risk of endometrial cancer, despite whether or not they are overweight, according to data presented at the Ninth Annual AACR Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference, held here Nov. 7-10, 2010.
As part of a joint research effort with the University of Michigan, scientists from the Florida campus of The Scripps Research Institute have for the first time defined the structure of one of the cell's most basic engines, which is required for cell growth, as it assembles from its components.
Vitamin D is increasingly being recognized as important for good health. Vitamin D is a hormone made in the skin following sun exposure or acquired from diet and supplement intake. Previous medical research has shown that low body levels of vitamin D make people more susceptible to problems such as bone fractures, poor mental health and infections like the common cold.
