The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy(R) (NABP(R)) welcomes Office of National Drug Control Policy drug policy expert Kevin Sebat to speak at its 2009 Symposium. On December 3, 2009, Sebat will discuss the current federal laws regarding marijuana as well as the recent policy shift regarding prosecution of medical marijuana cases in states that have legalized the practice.
Gene therapy preserved vision in a study involving dogs with naturally occurring, late-stage retinitis pigmentosa, according to research funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health. The findings contribute to the groundwork needed to move gene therapy forward into clinical trials for people with the blinding eye disorder, for which there is currently no cure.
The spirit of St. Patrick's Day is alive and well. The Muscular Dystrophy Association today announced that, with 92 percent of some 10,000 retail locations reporting, its 2010 Shamrocks Against Dystrophy fundraiser is the most successful in the event's 27 year history.

The study, published in the online edition of Human Molecular Genetics, sets the stage for further investigations into fisetin's neuroprotective properties in Huntington's and other neurodegenerative conditions.
