President Obama and health insurance executives plan to announce a new joint effort on Thursday to crack down on health care fraud by sharing and comparing claims data, administration officials say (Pear, 7/25).
Researchers at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center's School of Medicine have uncovered how a gene linked to Parkinson's disease can keep brain cells alive. The results suggest the possibility for new drugs that might regulate the gene and protect Parkinson's patients from further cell damage.
Among the valuable holdings in London's Wellcome Library is a rough pencil sketch made in 1953 by Francis Crick. The drawing is one of the first to show the double-helix structure of DNA-Nature's blueprint for the design of sea snails, human beings, and every other living form on earth.
This type of TNBC tumor does not express any of the receptors involved in most breast cancers (estrogen, progesterone and HER2), so the most common treatments, such as the hormone therapy, are not viable in these patients.
