Pending cuts to the Medicare physician fee schedule could severely hamper the ability of physical therapists to serve the rehabilitation needs of seniors and people with disabilities - driving up overall costs while decreasing quality of care, according to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and its Private Practice Section.
This week PLoS Medicine publishes the third in a four-part series of policy papers examining the ways in which global health institutions and arrangements are changing and evolving.
States proposing demonstration projects to more effectively care for dually eligible Medicare and Medicaid enrollees have not suggested requiring Medicare patients to enroll in managed care plans, Cindy Mann, the federal official in charge of Medicaid, told state directors on Wednesday.
For the first time, researchers have determined that a brief, simple number naming test can differentiate between cognitively healthy elderly individuals and cognitively impaired people with Alzheimer's disease (AD), including those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), as well as those with AD dementia.
New research from Boston Medical Center shows that providing education and training to pediatric and family medicine providers about the importance of human papillomavirus vaccines, in tandem with healthcare systems changes including starting an HPV vaccination series before the age of 11, improves the overall rate of HPV vaccinations among adolescent patients.
