Dementia experts call for a new approach to supporting dementia patients and their carers, after identifying gaps in current health and social care provision. The findings are highlighted in a new report, written by a panel of some of England's leading experts in dementia care, launched in the House of Lords today.
Scientists at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) have made another important advance in HIV vaccine design. The development was possible thanks to previous studies at TSRI showing the structures of a protein on HIV's surface, called the envelope glycoprotein. The scientists used these structures to design a mimic of the viral protein from a different HIV subtype, subtype C, which is responsible for the majority of infections worldwide.
Some European countries could make better provision for disabled children to allow them to participate in life on an equal basis with others, concludes a large study published on bmj.com.
In developed countries like the U.S., Europe and parts of Asia, healthcare leaders are trying to optimize efficiency, systems integration, data analytics and achieve greater productivity. In emerging economies, enabling access to affordable, basic primary care is often the most pressing concern. Healthcare systems around the world face a wide range of difficult challenges. All could benefit from training and education solutions focused specifically on their particular needs.
