The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently recommended that clinicians be more conservative when they prescribe chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients with drugs that treat red blood cell deficiencies. But the drug label's recommendations fall short, according to two commentaries appearing in an upcoming issue of the Clinical Journal of the American Society Nephrology.
Study findings indicate that extending initial prednisolone treatment durations in patients with pediatric nephrotic syndrome from 3 to 6 months without increasing the overall dose does not reduce the number of relapses.
Duplex guided dialysis access angioplasty can be performed safely and effectively in the office setting according to a new study presented today at the 64th Vascular Annual Meeting presented by the Society for Vascular Surgery®. According to researchers, ultrasound offers the advantage of treating the patient without ionizing radiation and sedation or iodinated contrast.
