Fluxion Biosciences, Inc. announced today that a lawsuit alleging patent infringement had been filed against it in the US District Court of Northern California by Cellectricon AB, its competitor in the field of automated ion channel screening systems for drug discovery. Cellectricon has asserted U.S. Patents Nos. 7,390,650, 7,470,518, and 7,563,614 in the litigation, as well as U.S. Patent No. 5,376,252, which is owned by Gyros and licensed to Cellectricon.
Primary results from a new clinical trial show that patients with type 1 diabetes treated with the monoclonal antibody teplizumab (MacroGenics, Inc.) exhibit greater preservation of C-peptide, a biomarker of islet cell function, compared to controls.
The overuse of opioids has become a national crisis, particularly among adolescents who are considered "at risk" for opioid abuse once the medication has been prescribed to them for pain management.
Six health care lobbyists told Politico Pro that much of their strategic planning depends on the Supreme Court's upcoming health law decision and the November elections. But some lawmakers are signalling hope that this is the year to address Medicare's "doc fix" problem.
