PharmAthene, Inc., a biodefense company developing medical countermeasures against biological and chemical threats, announced today that it has entered into subscription agreements with certain institutional investors to sell approximately $6.5 million of its common stock and warrants in a registered direct offering.
Researchers looked at 121 adolescents - including 48 with civilian parents, 20 with a parent deployed to Iraq and 53 with a parent in the military but not deployed - days after Operation Iraqi Freedom was launched in March 2003 and nearly three months later when President Bush announced major hostilities had ceased.
Human populations vary vastly in skin tones. European populations have been studied and some of the genes that determine skin color have been found. A latest study in a varied African population has found the specific and new genetic variants that could determine skin color and skin pigmentation. The study report is published in the journal Science.
A new type of whole-body magnetic resonance imaging test could be an alternative to standard positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging for assessing cancer in children and young adults, but without exposure to radiation that has been shown to increase the risk of secondary cancers in later life.
A highly sensitive wearable sensor for cardiorespiratory monitoring could potentially be worn continuously by cardiac patients or others who require constant monitoring.
