The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Board of Governors today approved $61.3 million for a slate of several infrastructure projects that will support the activities of eight Clinical Research Networks to implement the next phase of PCORnet, the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network.
Researchers are 3D printing replica human vertebrae which act and feel like real bone tissue to help train spinal surgeons before they go into live operations.
A new study, presented today, demonstrates treatment for Hepatitis C can be provided safely and effectively within a community-based and non-specialist setting. This illustrates the potential for alternative providers to ease pressure on currently overburdened specialists. The study, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, was presented at The International Liver Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.
A new study suggests that insomnia decreases empathy in health care workers and may lead to adverse clinical outcomes and medical errors.
A barbiturate once commonly used to treat anxiety may play a role in controlling the spread of colon cancer, say researchers from The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
