Royal Philips Electronics NV has received approval from U.S. regulators to introduce a single medical imaging device that can scan the body for cancer using two technologies.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved a risk management program to inform healthcare providers and their patients about the risks of a class of drugs called Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents (ESAs). For patients with cancer, the program is also designed to help ensure the appropriate administration of these drugs, which they receive to treat anemia that can occur as a result of chemotherapy.
Australia's New South Wales (NSW) government announced radical laws that ban commercial tanning beds in the state. NSW will be the only place in the world besides Brazil to institute a total ban on ultraviolet solariums tanning units when the laws come into place from December 31, 2014, and cancer groups hope other states and countries will follow.
Already the world's leader in custom nucleic acid synthesis, Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) is capitalizing on its expertise to deliver a broader range of validated molecular biology products. Research and development for these products will now be performed in a newly built facility in Redwood City, California.
