University of Kansas researchers have found that the infants of mothers who were given 600 milligrams of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA during pregnancy weighed more at birth and were less likely to be very low birth weight and born before 34 weeks gestation than infants of mothers who were given a placebo. This result greatly strengthens the case for using the dietary supplement during pregnancy.
Restricting teenagers from driving unsupervised at night, and introducing strict penalties and other licensing requirements, could reduce crashes significantly, according to research.
New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Westchester Division (NYPH) will participate in a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) clinical research study of anorexia nervosa, the serious and potentially lethal eating disorder that mostly afflicts teenage girls.
The formation of collateral vessels does not appear to improve visual acuity in patients with branch or central retinal vein occlusion, and is unaffected by anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy, a retrospective analysis suggests.
