Thanks to a new study of the retina, scientists at UC Santa Barbara have developed a greater understanding of how the nervous system becomes wired during early development.
Researchers at the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research laboratory today published "Gamma-secretase Activating Protein is a Therapeutic Target for Alzheimer's Disease" in Nature online. Drs. Gen He (lead author) and Paul Greengard have discovered a protein that stimulates the production of beta-amyloid, and therefore represents a major new advance in Alzheimer's disease research.
New research finds improvements in access to care and health outcomes across racial and ethnic groups in Massachusetts since implementation of the state's health reform law in 2007 yet trends do not indicate progress in reducing disparities in the leading causes of illness and death, according to new research released today at the American Public Health Association's 141st Annual Meeting in Boston.
Janssen Research & Development, LLC has initiated the rolling submission of its Biologic License Application (BLA) for daratumumab to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least three prior lines of therapy, including a proteasome inhibitor (PI) and an immunomodulatory agent (IMiD), or who are double refractory to a PI and an IMiD.
At the American Society of Nephrology's Kidney Week 2011, Fresenius Medical Care, the world's largest provider of dialysis products and services, announced that it received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510 (K) clearance to extend improved touch screen navigation on its most advanced hemodialysis delivery system, the 2008T.
