The decision today by the Supreme Court will prevent millions of people from losing their health insurance, but does not stem the rising tide of visits to the nation's emergency departments or solve other problems emerging in the post-Affordable Care Act health care system, according to a statement from Dr. Michael Gerardi, president of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
Stopping bleeding, closing wounds, repairing organs—these are everyday challenges in medical and surgical practice. In the journal Angewandte Chemie, French researchers have now introduced a new method that employs gluing by aqueous nanoparticle solutions to effectively control bleeding and repair tissues. In animal tests, their approach proved easy to apply, rapid and efficient even in situations when conventional methods are traumatic or fail.
Prime Therapeutics (Prime), a leading pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), was selected as a finalist for URAC's 2013 Best Practices in Health Care Consumer Engagement and Protection Awards. Prime was selected for its Controlled Substance Drug Utilization Review (DUR) program, which is part of the GuidedHealth® platform.
Noonan syndrome is a rare disease that is characterised by a set of pathologies, including heart, facial and skeletal alterations, pulmonary stenosis, short stature, and a greater incidence of haematological problems (mainly juvenile myeloid leukaemia, or childhood leukaemia).
Stem cells - popularly known as a source of biological rejuvenation - may play harmful roles in the body, specifically in the growth and spread of cancer. Amongst the wildly dividing cells of a tumor, scientists have located cancer stem cells.
