IOF and the ANZBMS, together with the Japanese Bone and Mineral Research Society, invite researchers and clinicians with an interest in osteoporosis and bone research to attend the year's most important bone meeting in the Asia-Pacific region.
To commemorate World AIDS Day 2009, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), together with local partners, will offer free, confidential HIV testing at all five of its popular Bay Area "Out of the Closet" Thrift Stores on Tuesday, December 1st, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. The events are part of AHF's World AIDS Day 2009 "Testing Millions" campaign which seeks to test several million people for HIV in conjunction with this year's observance of World AIDS Day.
Researchers from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston have found that women who take the birth control pill, which lessen and stabilize estrogen levels, were less likely to suffer serious knee injuries. The findings are currently available in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, the official journal of the American College of Sports Medicine.
The day when an ovarian cancer patient can treat her tumor with a single, painless pill instead of a toxic drug cocktail is the ultimate goal of the pioneering research of a University of Houston scientist.
Scientists for the first time have watched agents of brain-wasting diseases, called transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE), as they invade a nerve cell and then travel along wire-like circuits to points of contact with other cells.
