In a move to expand significantly its portfolio of leading solutions for peripheral interventions, Boston Scientific Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Interventional Division of Bayer AG for $415 million in cash, including fees for transitional services.
Ninety-two percent of seniors enrolled in the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit in 2008 are satisfied with their coverage according to a national phone survey by RetireSafe, a nationwide education and advocacy group for older Americans.
"Women's groups in the Somali town of Galkayo are lobbying the authorities in the self-declared autonomous region of Puntland to enact a law banning female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), saying the practice was becoming widespread," IRIN reports.
The Guardian reports that "60 finance and development ministers will gather in Washington on Friday at a high-level meeting on sanitation and water." According to the newspaper, "The Sanitation and Water for All meeting, convened by Anthony Lake, executive director of the U.N. children's fund UNICEF, follows an announcement in March by UNICEF and the World Health Organization that the world had met the millennium development goal (MDG) overall target for access to safe drinking water in 2010, but that 783 million people were still missing out."
While The American Legion welcomed new VA regulations that make it easier for veterans to claim disabilities from post-traumatic stress disorder, it also urged the agency to allow private practitioners to diagnose and treat the condition.
