The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced the following actions taken in its ongoing response effort to the COVID-19 pandemic:
Damaging tangles of the protein tau dot the brains of people with Alzheimer's and many other neurodegenerative diseases, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy, which plagues professional boxers and football players.
South Africa is taking steps to revise its HIV/AIDS control program in an effort to combat the spread of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis, TB that is resistant to first- and second-line drugs, Nomonde Xundu, the Department of Health's chief director for HIV and TB, said on Thursday, Reuters reports.
New analysis presented at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics meeting (TCT 2010) in Washington, DC, indicates that the broad use of CYPHER Sirolimus-eluting coronary stent in patients with diabetes would result in substantial cost savings, as compared to the use of everolimus-eluting stents (EES), paclitaxel-eluting stents (PES), or zotarolimus-eluting stents (ZES).
