A new study by researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) published in JAMA concludes that obesity kills 112,000 Americans each year - a dramatic decrease from an admittedly flawed study published last year by the CDC.
A Universit- de Montr-al research team is developing a pill composed of leptin, the protein that tells our brain to stop eating. "Mice deprived of leptin will not stop eating. They become so big they have trouble moving around," says Mo-se Bendayan, a pathology professor at the Universit- de Montr-al Faculty of Medicine who has studied the leptin protein extensively.
Dr. Mitchell Earl Gibson, best-selling author, board-certified physician, and CEO of Tybro Publications, has proposed a new energy receptor theory of brain function that might explain the efficacy of mantras and prayer in human illness.
The company last Friday filed suit against Digene Corp., seeking a court ruling supporting Third Wave's right to sell its human papilloma virus (HPV) products. Third Wave today also filed suit against Chiron Corp., Bayer Corp., and Bayer HealthCare LLC asking for a similar ruling about its right to sell its hepatitis C virus products.
ADA Technologies, Inc. received a $70,000 contract from the U.S. Army for Phase I research into the development of a self-contained, integrated, disposable bio sampling platform.
