In work supported by The ALS Association, researchers have discovered a new ALS-causing gene and have linked its function to that of another prominent disease gene. The study was published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
Scientists have visualized for the first time protein 'tangles' associated with dementia in the brains of patients who have suffered a single head injury.
Two studies have found that babies who put on weight too fast in their first months are more likely to become fat as adults. The studies showed that at 5–8 years old, children who were given the enriched formula had more body fat than those who were given normal formula.
The scientists describe their work in this week's Early Edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
