Despite the conventional belief that for women giving birth "once a cesarean always a cesarean," vaginal delivery after cesarean - also known as "trial of labor after cesarean delivery" - offers a safe option for many second-time mothers with no contraindications.
The six-month results from the prospective, multicenter, single-arm 4EVER study demonstrate efficacy and safety of BIOTRONIK's Pulsar Stent System in 120 superficial femoral artery (SFA) patients. Analysis of the 120 patients showed excellent device performance, very promising patency rates and convincing evidence of the benefits of lower limb intervention on a 4F platform. Although only the interim results were presented at the Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC 2012) in Leipzig, Germany, analysis of the full cohort has recently been made available.
Neuroscientists at Tufts University School of Medicine have discovered a new signaling pathway that directly connects two major receptors in the brain associated with learning and memory – the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) and the alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (a7nAChR) – which has significance for current efforts to develop drugs to treat schizophrenia.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced $13 million in new grants to help state and local courts offer treatment and recovery support instead of incarceration for individuals who are in a court system due to mental health or substance use disorders.
