A new position paper by researchers at the European Centre for the Environment and Human Health and the University of Birmingham has compared the benefits of interaction with actual and virtual natural environments and concluded that the development of accurate simulations are likely to be beneficial to those who cannot interact with nature because of infirmity or other limitations: but virtual worlds are not a substitute for the real thing.
Researchers have found that the microorganisms residing in the intestines (microbiota) play a role in the development of high blood pressure in rats. The study is published in Physiological Genomics. It was chosen as an APSselect article for February.
General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has entered into a letter of intent with McKesson Provider Technologies to collaborate in offering an Electronic Health Record solution known as the "Way Ahead" to the Department of Defense.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle significantly decreases the risk for stroke in both men and women who differ in their hypertension status and use of antihypertensive drug treatments, a study shows.
