Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies and counter-terrorism training programs to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, responded today to a survey that says nearly a third of Americans would delay in taking an antibiotic recommended by public health officials in the wake of an anthrax detect.
PDL BioPharma, Inc. today announced that on January 7, 2011, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California issued summary judgment order deciding certain issues favorably and other issues adversely to PDL in its litigation with MedImmune. PDL disagrees with certain aspects of the court's decisions which are adverse to the Company and is evaluating its legal options, including appeal of these decisions.
Treating genital herpes does not reduce the risk of HIV, according to a study published on Friday in the journal Lancet, the AP/Newsweek reports (Cheng, AP/Newsweek, 6/19). Herpes simplex virus-2 has been shown to increase the risk of HIV by as much as threefold, so the researchers examined whether treating HSV-2 might reduce the risk of HIV, Bloomberg reports.
A new study from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston has uncovered why some people that have brain markers of Alzheimer's never develop the classic dementia that others do. The study is now available in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease.
