Stanford bioengineer Scott Delp knows; he has programmed almost every one into his latest work, OpenSim, a software application that helps medical professionals and bioengineers study, diagnose and correct abnormalities in how people move.
LIFE Biosystems AG announced today that it has entered into a master agreement with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas to provide clinical research consulting services in the area of Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) deployment support. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
It's all part of a growing movement by employers fed up with wildly different price tags for routine operations. In response, businesses are showering workers with generous incentives -; including waiving deductibles or handing out $2,500 bonuses -; to steer them to these top-performing providers offering bargain prices.
The Wall Street Journal reports that a recent small study finds that reporting of prescription side effects increases when doctors use computerized patient records. "The study, at Massachusetts General and Brigham & Women's hospitals in Boston and sponsored by Pfizer Inc., showed a large increase in reporting of adverse events to the Food and Drug Administration once doctors used an automated tool.
Officials from the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment in the U.S. say a Nepalese student at Colorado State University-Pueblo who died of tuberculosis in June, probably infected 17 other people.
