OHSU scientists have uncovered a method for quickly and efficiently mapping the genome of single cells within the body. Their findings, to be published Jan. 30 in the journal Nature Methods, clears the way for a significant advance in precision medicine, including cancer, and many other disease areas.
Seventeen National Institutes of Health grants are aimed at creating 3-D chips with living cells and tissues that accurately model the structure and function of human organs such as the lung, liver and heart. Once developed, these tissue chips will be tested with compounds known to be safe or toxic in humans to help identify the most reliable drug safety signals - ultimately advancing research to help predict the safety of potential drugs in a faster, more cost-effective way.
Findings indicate that assessment of SHOX2 DNA methylation level in lymph node tissue improves the negative predictive value of endobronchial ultrasound with transbronchial needle aspiration, as well as endoscopic lung cancer staging in general.
Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi), a leader in multicolor imaging solutions for preclinical and clinical research, today announced the newest addition to the award-winning Nuance™ multispectral imaging product family for multicolor tissue and cell-based imaging. The TRIO system is compact, multipurpose and affordable, offering a simplified interface and versatile design to fit any microscope with a camera-mount.
Neuromuscular training improves balance, stability, coordination and reaction speed, increasing patients' ability to perform daily chores and allowing them to gain quality of life.
