Adults younger than age 60 whose days are filled with sedentary leisure time (which includes using the computer, TV, or reading) and little physical activity have a higher stroke risk than people who are more physically active, according to new research.
CytRx Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company, today announced plans to initiate a multinational Phase 2 clinical trial with its doxorubicin prodrug INNO-206 as a treatment for patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas who have failed surgery and radiation. Soft tissue sarcomas are cancers that are formed in the muscle, fat, fibrous tissue, blood vessels or other supporting tissue of the body.
Inter Press Service reports on HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean, a region with "the second highest incidence of HIV/AIDS after sub-Saharan Africa." The news service highlights a report, titled "Together We Will End AIDS" and released by UNAIDS ahead of the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012) in Washington, D.C., last week, that "noted that AIDS-related deaths in the Caribbean have declined by almost 50 percent in 10 years."
