HRL Laboratories, LLC, in collaboration with University of New Mexico, have published the first study showing that transcranial alternating current stimulation of the brain during sleep increases human subjects' ability to accurately assess hidden targets in novel visual scenes.
An estimated one in ten adults suffers from kidney disease, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. A leading cause of kidney disease is hypertension, which effects one out of every four U.S. adults. Chronically high blood pressure damages capillaries of the kidneys which in turn affects the organ's ability to filter waste and remove excess fluids from the body.
Chris Collins, vice president and director of public policy at the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), and Khai Hoan Tram, an Allan Rosenfield Fellow at amfAR, write in this Huffington Post opinion piece that what's missing from the discussion of foreign aid - which accounts for approximately one percent of the U.S. national budget - "is the fact that [it] is actually used to aid those in need while advancing our country's humanitarian and diplomatic goals.
