As the question of how best to deal with privatization of alcohol sales and drinking and driving continue to be debated in Ontario, the Ontario Public Health Association and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) are pleased to present the seventh annual forum, aptly entitled Alcohol: No Ordinary Commodity.
Young women diagnosed with breast cancer are uniquely impacted by issues often not faced by older women. Breast cancer is often detected at later stages, increasing diagnoses of more advanced cancers. The impact of cancer treatment on fertility, body image, financial challenges, and slightly higher mortality rates are significant concerns for this population.
Science Magazine reports on the recent push to make preventing and treating cancer a global priority, particularly in developing countries, where it's estimated "less than 5% of the world's cancer resources are spent."
In the Management Sciences for Health's (MSH) "Global Health Impact" blog, Barbara Ayotte, director of strategic communications at MSH, reports on a luncheon discussion on the London Summit on Family Planning, held in Boston in November.
A Massachusetts General Hospital study has identified a new role for an important enzyme in preparing lung tissue for the development of metastases.
